Since Save BG has become a PAC, we have been receiving monetary and in-kind donations. We will be sending personal thank you letters to all donors once we have our letterhead ready. Thank you to all who already donated.
Save BG will have a presence at the BG Farmer’s Market (8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) on Sunday, September 21 and Sunday, September 28. We’re hoping to have a tent top and table set up. If anyone has a tent top to loan us, we’d appreciate it. We plan to have at least two Save BG members at the Market on each day. At least one Steering Committee member will be part of the Team. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer to spend some time at the Market with us.
One of our first major purchases will be lawn signs. We hope to have a supply in the next couple of weeks and definitely by 9/21. The signs will say something like “Keep BG Green, Save the
Golf Course” and will have our newly designed logo and website address. We’re also looking into buttons to wear.
I believe there is a misconception on the part of some (a Trustee has mentioned this to me) that SAVE BG supporters are only in the “older” generation and reside near the Golf Course. Our stats show this is not really the mode. We have significant numbers of supporters who are “younger” with families and who live in areas of BG that are not close to the Golf Course.
The Burke Engineering report on the buildability of the Golf Course/Flood Plain was received by BG Staff recently. I hear it is a humongous report. I think almost 190 pages. Village staff is reviewing it and has questions for Burke about it. We expect the report to be released for public viewing around mid-August. We are planning to set up a public meeting to discuss the report when it has been released.
If you’d (or your friends) would like to help out at the Farmer’s Market, please let me know. Thanks.
